Welcome to The British Chihuahua Club

Our Open Show was held on Sunday 15th May at Brackley Leisure Centre in Northamptonshire. At the last minute, Lynda Soper replaced Jurate Suprinaityte as our Smoothcoat judge, while Chloe Holmes (Teclo) judged longs as per the schedule.

Our 2022 AGM was held in a break during the show with several changes in the Officers and Committee.  Our longest-serving member Mrs Mo Prentice has retired, and we thank her sincerely for her sixteen years of service.  Our Chairman Mr Adrian Bickers stepped down and retired, replaced by Mrs Emma Huntley, and Mr James Culverhouse was elected Vice-Chair with Mrs Pauline Lodwick the new Hon Secretary.  Bernard Coxhead continues as Hon Treasurer.  We welcomed onto the committee a new member, Shih-chi Facey, and a returning member, Hazel Senior, however this still leaves us with one vacancy.  In other business, the audited accounts for 2021-22 were approved and a rule change was agreed.

Mrs Emma Huntley then judged Best In Show, which went to Lesley Taylor's smoothcoat Arkoschi Diamond In The Ruff. Another smoothcoat, Anadeia Tokala with Jaschin,, owned by Steve Rooney and John & Amanda Green, took RBIS as well as Best Puppy in Show. Finally Best Veteran went to Lynn & Lesley Hills' longcoat Ch Lynpix The Mexican with Becanna. Congratulations to all the winners!

It was great to be at Crufts again, it went ahead in spite of all the uncertainty and there was a great atmosphere as old friends met up again.  Entries were down by about a third from before Covid but there was still plenty of competition, and many quality dogs for the judges to go over.  Sadly none made it through to a group placing.

Longcoat Dog CC and BOB was awarded by judge Mrs Lee Humphreys to Will Heap & Jill Palmer's Ch/JapCh Peregrine Jp Chance Is Coming, while the bitch CC went to Apostolos Raptakis' MultiCh Mystic Legion Melina Reserve CCs to MultiCh Torre Del Pilar Mulhacen and Trefnanney Peggy Sue.  In smoothcoats, judge Steve Rooney gave Mr & Mrs Mann's Ch Parisland Pans Little Man the dog CC and BOB, with Jolidon and Borges' SwissCh Definitely Maybe Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo (NAF) getting the bitch CC and the reserve tickets going to Diamonchi Button Moon for Moltobello and Davixity Galore.

Our 2022 Yearbook went on sale at Crufts and if you missed it, you can either pick up a copy at our Open Show in May or order it by post through this website (click here to visit our online shop.)

Don't be tricked out of your money
With the continuing popularity of Chihuahuas, people desperate to obtain a puppy are sending off large amounts of money to people they've never met for dogs they've never seen.  Sadly many of them never receive the puppy they were promised, or ever see their money again.  Read our page Buying A Chihuahua to see how the Club can put you in touch with Club members who may have puppies for sale.  Our members are obliged to abide by our code of ethics
